I am a versatile musician as well as holistic and practicle in my work as a pedagog. In my opinion, the most important task of a teacher alonside teaching musical skills, is to help the student to notice his/her individual strengths and to encourage the student to find a way to confident and honest expression. Vocally don't represent a specific technical school of thought, however I value knowledge of anatomy, as well as natural and versatile, modern way of using voice.
Finnish is my mother tongue. I also speak and write fluently swedish and english. I am also able to pronounce portuguese and spanish in order to sing. Beyond organized and empathetic teaching, I am also a charismatic performer, speaker as well as listener. In a variety of situations I am used to being productive, creative, innovative and flexible organizer as well as respectful team member.
Currently I work as a senior lecturer at Jamk, University of Applied Sciences. I have gained experience in teaching: pop/jazz singing lessons, vocal ensembles, choirs, ensemble, song writing, composing, rhythm, jazz improvisation, improvisation etc. During the academic year of 2019-2020 I have enjoyed working at Gradia, Jyväskylä. Since 2020 I have had the pleasure to work at Jamk, University of Applied Sciences on a bachelour and master level. I also have experiences of collaboration projects that bring together different fields and companies.
Close to my heart are singers and vocal groups as well as projects where I can challenge myself both as a composer and a teacher of an ensemble or orchestra. I enjoy finding musical means to bring together musicians with variety of backgrounds and strengths, so that the outcome is more than the sum of the music written. Also my own ensembles have mainly been large and the music a combination of full written and space to improvise. I have composed for orchestras such as wind orchestra and a bigband.
My musical backround and interests lies in soul, cuban and brazilian music, jazz, free improvisation and orchestral modern jazz. However I don't value music according to genres. I experience music and musicians with genuine curiosity and aim to meet a person with open heart. There is always a possibility to meet, to learn together, combine genres and find something new and meaningful. Music is also a beautiful tool to meeting, connection and well-being.
